Josh Brown and Christa Yelich-Koth are seriously cool.  They have a successful portfolio of interesting and unique stories that are sure to capture your imagination.  When I interviewed both of them they were very down to earth and fun to chat with.  They offered great advice for aspiring creators and have put their work out there for you to enjoy.

I was fortunate in getting to know them through a book review.  Their personalities match their skills.  I highly recommend that you check out who they are and what they’ve done because you owe it to yourself.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Christa Yelich-Koth’s Illusion is a Sci-Fi novel that keeps things ‘down to earth’. Instead of focusing on the broader setting she focuses on a few key characters and their interaction with the world and within themselves. Giving us a sneak peek at the broader world of the Eomix Galaxy keeps the reader interested in it’s mysteries. The alien races, technology, and political interactions are engaging but take a place on the back burner of this tale. Appropriately so.

Building on unique and interesting characters Christa does not leave the readers with one-note or cliche tropes. The people in this story are dynamic and realistic, they experience pain and pleasure, they desire love and acceptance, they have deep scars which trouble and influence their decisions. Her main characters Daith, a woman trying to solve her own mysteries, Dru, the man helping to guide her through it, and Trey, a man that’s extremely driven, will keep the pages turning.

There are some fantastic elements in the novel driven by gifts, or powers, but Yelich-Koth does a great job of managing the scenes and the reality of them. I have found in many Sci-Fi and Fantasy novels that powers, magic, etc…can be difficult to understand, read, or are too complex. She does a fine job of relaying to the reader what is happening as well as the consequences of such things.

With a prolific world, deep characters, and a mysterious background Christa Yelich-Koth introduces an exciting new series into the world of literature. If you’re a fan of Sci-Fi or Fantasy I highly recommend it. If you’re not, I still recommend it, it’s amazing what a good author can do to sway your interests.
